When it comes to energy storage, Tesla owns the stage. First released in 2015 and re-updated in 2016, the Powerwall is a thing of beauty. Sleek, chic and on fleek: this Powerwall is not only good on the eyes but also great for the solar industry.

What is a ‘Powerwall’?

The Powerwall is a huge battery that stores the energy produced by your solar panels during the day. At night when daylight disappears, the Powerwall enables you to utilize your own energy – meaning you have less reliance on grid electricity.

Unique to Tesla, the Powerwall acts as a backup energy source during power outages. So whilst your neighbours sit in darkness, you will be able to turn on the lights and continue with your day.

Moreover, the Powerwalls’ come with a smart app that monitors your homes energy production and consumption. This means that you can manage your electricity: more savings and more control.

What are the stats?

The Powerwall offers a storage capacity of 13.5kWh. What does this mean in layman terms?  To put this into perspective, on a daily basis an average household uses approximately 8-10 kWh of electricity. Considering the Powerwall stores 13.5kWh, you will be able to power your home for a whole day using the battery.

So, How much is it?

The cost of the Powerwall (and installation) is £6,995 + VAT. We understand that the Powerwall is not for everyone. However, for those keen to ditch the grid and say no to fossil fuels, the Powerwall is for you. For electric car owners the Powerwall can keep your car charging through the night so that when you wake up, you are ready to get up and go.

The battery is not only child and pet safe (since there are no exposed wires) but also it is safe for outside placement due to its water resistant cover.

When it comes to energy storage, there really is no better battery on the current market. Tesla has only gone and done it again!
