Latest results show that the average energy efficiency of British homes are ranked in ‘Band D’ by the Energy Performance Certificates (EPC). At Huub we do much better than that!

What is an Energy Performance Certificate

An EPC is generated following a standard assessment procedure (SAP) which is required by law on rented, sold or constructed UK properties.

They provide a calculation of a buildings’ overall efficiency: taking into account the buildings’ estimated performance, energy cost and environmental impact (CO2).

The certificates provide a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient) and last for 10 years.

What Is Energy Efficiency?

Before I reveal our Huubs efficiency ratings, let’s quickly understand what energy efficiency really means.

The most simplistic definition of this is: ‘doing more with less’.

When an appliance or building is ‘efficient’ it is able to maintain the same (or higher) performance whilst using less energy.

Efficiency also refers to the amount of waste generated by a product. If a considerable amount of energy is ‘lost’ as heat per se, it will be regarded as less efficient than one which does not.

Our Huubs Energy Efficiency: The Grand Reveal

Energy Efficiency of our Type 23

Huub Type 23 EPC

  • Energy Efficiency = 129 (very efficient)
  • Environmental Impact = 126 (very environmentally friendly)

Energy Efficiency of our Type 42

Huub EPC

Huub Type 42 EPC

  • Energy Efficiency = 103 (very efficient)
  • Environmental Impact = 103 (very environmentally friendly)

As you can see our Huubs are dramatically more efficient than the average UK home – rating high into the ‘A’ grade. This means that our Huubs waste considerably less energy and are cheaper to run – winner winner!

For both the Type 23 and 42, the ‘Environmental Impact Rating’ (CO2) is incredibly low (for this grading, the higher number the better!). Average households have a score of around ‘50’, Huubs however more than double that –  experiencing 126 on our type 23! This makes our Huub highly environmentally friendly as it generates energy and uses less energy to keep it warm.

Our Environmental Impact Rating is extremely low because Huubs have built in solar PV systems which generate renewable solar energy. Moreover, due to the double (or triple glazed) windows and eco insulation the building is protected from unnecessary heat loss.

You may be wondering why the certificates have ‘DRAFT’ traced over them…does that mean that the scores will change?

The answer to this is no. Since Huubs are built in a modular fashion, each Huub will be built the same as the next – unless you wanted triple instead or double glazing for instance.

EPC’s are only ‘undrafted’ when they are officially sold and presented to the homeowner. So don’t worry, your Huub will be just as efficient as these!
